AAPA QUEENSLAND BREAKFAST SESSION & EVENTS FOR 2013

The events page contains details of the planned activities in 2013.  Dates are being set and venues to be
confirmed.  We will be holding three Breakfast Sessions with guest speakers, a mid-year function for
members & partners in May,  Golf day in August and End-of-Year function planned for 5 December.

Queensland Major Contractors Association - 2013 Major Projects Launch

The QMCA released its report on major projects for Queensland.  The report reflects on the current very
high level of works, maining in the mining & CSG sectors with a drop of 40% expected by 2016/2017.  The
prognosis for roads and bridges is not favorable for major projects and will see funding of <$1b for
2016/2017.  Details of the event can be found in the members area under Reference

AAPA QUEENSLAND 2013 MID YEAR SOCIAL FUNCTION - GREAT EVENT!!

The AAPA Queensland Branch held its annual mid-year social night at Moda, Portside
Wharf, Hamilton,Brisbane on 12 July.  Over 160 members and guests enjoyed a
entertaining evening, three course diner, drinks, trivia and dancing.  

Rob McGuire, AAPA Q Chairman presented and update "Our Journey in Queensland"
highlighting AAPA's role a a peak body for the road's sector.  

Many-a-laugh, matching head scratching challenges, were started across the tables
with the trivia contest run by MC & Joke Master for the night, Adrian Grbac of BP
- well done to the winners, we all enjoyed the fun.  

Thanks to the AAPA Queensland Associates Committee Chairman David Smale,
Kasey Packer & Melissa Weatherhog of Astec Australia for putting the event together.
QUEENSLAND STATE BRANCH -
NEWS ARCHIVE - 2013

The first Breakfast Session of 2013 had as Guest speaker Greg Tomlinson Director of Strategy Leaders who lead us
through a conversation on  "Three Horizons - staying on track to our future vision".  Greg also used this technique with
the Branch in establishing the vision and strategy for Queensland.  The technique showed us how to establish a
vision, but more importantly to stay on track as an individual or as a group in moving towards the future goals.
AAPA QUEENSLAND TRANSPORT & MAIN ROADS - ASPHALT HARMONISATION WORKSHOP

A workshop was held on 8 July 2013 to provide the opportunity
for AAPA members & Transport and Main Raods staff to be
briefed by Hyder Consulting on the findings of their
report to QTMR on potential cost savings
in harmonising the specifications and standards for
the purchasing of asphalt with those of RMS in NSW.
